Thursday, April 8, 2021 Brought to you by: News, SEO Google Product Reviews Update Goes Live in Search Results By Matt Southern Today Google launches the product reviews search algorithm update, designed to rank well-researched, in-depth content over brief product summaries. To be clear, this is not a core algorithm update that affects all search results. This update specifically targets product reviews. In an announcement, Google says it designed the product reviews update to reward content that users find the most helpful: "Google Search is always working to show the most useful and helpful information possible, through testing, experimenting and review processes. From this, we know people appreciate product reviews that share in-depth research, rather than thin content that simply summarizes a bunch of products. That's why we're sharing an improvement to our ranking systems, which we call the product reviews update, that's designed to better reward such content."
